"Real Housewives" star finally reaches divorce settlement

Posted by Scott Mitchell | Nov 16, 2012 | 0 Comments

Two months of bitter arguing have finally given way to an agreement on child custody and child support between "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Adrienne Maloof and her estranged husband. Both issued a joint statement that they are happy with their settlement agreement and that their mutual goal was the happiness of their children.

During the course of the divorce, Maloof's husband had been accused of physical abuse, with photos of Maloof posted on Facebook showing marks on her neck, allegedly from abuse by her husband. The husband, in turn, claimed that Maloof had physically and verbally assaulted him in front of their children. The situation continued to deteriorate as Maloof sought and obtained a temporary restraining order against her husband for allegedly choking one and hitting another son. The father was given supervised visitation as a result of these charges.

Celebrity divorces are highly publicized, especially when they are acrimonious, and the situation between Maloof and her husband is unfortunately not uncommon. When child visitation and child support are in question, there can be a great deal of anger, recrimination and other issues between the parties. Although these emotional issues may have no place in a divorce proceeding, they often become the focus for both parties rather than reaching an amicable settlement.

Fortunately, Maloof and her husband were able to sort out their differences and reach a settlement agreement for the good of their children. With the help of a divorce attorney, many couples can eventually compromise and work out an agreement that is acceptable to both of them and, most importantly, benefits the children.
